Jane A. Burns
"Working figuratively
eventually drives me to abstraction and painting too much abstraction
threatens to loosen my already somewhat shaky grip on reality, so for years I
bounced back and forth between the two. In my current work though I'm
trying to contain the bounce and put everyone in the same painting. And by
everyone I mean the group of me:
1. Obsessive counter and perfectionist, who would love
it if everything in the world was striped and/or evenly spaced.
2. Abstract thinker where reality is a no show and
happenstance wears a party hat.
3. Person who lives in a world where stories have ears
and colors listen. Or is it that colors have ears and stories listen???"
Jane has been a professional
painter/illustrator for 25 years and works out of her studio in
Bellingham WA. She works with mixed media, primarily acrylic, on canvas.
